"Garaga Doors is now registered ISO-9002"

Garaga Doors (2000) Inc., from St-Georges, Beauce, is now registered ISO-9002. All personnel proudly heard the announcement September 10th. Garaga Doors (2000) Inc. is one of the most respected residential, commercial and industrial garage door manufacturers in Canada.

After many months of work, the assurance quality management system has been fully implemented, and recognized as being operative by SGS International Certification Services of Canada who recommended its accreditation for the St-Georges facilities.

As stated by Mr. Michel Gendreau, president of Garaga Doors (2000) Inc., "this certification is firstly an official recognition of our quality system, and secondly an assurance for our customers of our continuous improvement philosophy. Also, our increasing exportation business to Europe, the Middle East and the United States is an additionnal reason to have an internationally-recognized ISO quality assurance system".

Garaga Doors (2000) Inc. joins a rapidly growing group of Canadian companies registered under ISO standards, who wish to guarantee to their customers here and abroad constant quality products, on which consumers may depend without further questionning.

According to Globus Information Systems, Garaga Doors (2000) Inc. is the first North American company exclusively dedicated to garage door manufacturing to receive the ISO-9002 accreditation.

You are looking for a quiet garage door? Here are a few elements that can help to elinimate noise. However, make sure that these possibilities can be applied to your situation.

a) Nylon Rollers

At no additional charge, these rollers roll much more softly on the tracks than conventional steel rollers. For a 12 feet and plus wide door, we suggest the white nylon rollers with ball bearings.

b) Hardware Radius

The greater the radius the smoother the roll of the door. "Standard" radius are:

- "Extension" springs: 10"
- "Torsion" springs: 12"

According to the headroom available, you may at no cost, order a larger radius:

c) "Torsion" Springs

We recommend you use "torsion" springs instead of "extension" springs. Torsion springs provide a more precise door balance and prevent friction to the cables and springs on the horizontal tracks.

d) Aluminium Door

The aluminium door is lighter, and easier on the lifting mechanism (hardware and motor).

e) Noise isolator for electric operators

For all types of operators, including those already installed, the noise isolators eliminate vibrations between the motor and the support fixed to the ceiling joists. The attachment to the ceiling is a very important point, especially when there is a bedroom above the garage. When the garage is entirely made of concrete, the horizontal tracks must be "isolated" (vibrations). You can use a piece of semirigid rubber (1/4" thickness ) to stop vibrations. In the case of a wood frame, do not fix directly on the joists, but place a piece of rubber under piece of wood (2" X 4"). Of course in critical cases such as a concrete ceiling or a bedroom with wood floor above the garage, it is very difficult to isolate completely. In these situations, the garage plays the role of a "resonance chamber" and it is imperative to install a carpet with an underpad.

f) Belt drive 1280 and 1280R

The "motor" part of the 1280 and 1280R models is isolated by the metal case. Also, the belt (rubber reinforced by metallic wire) is quieter than the traditional steel chain.

The garage door and its operator need special attention. The keys to a secure and problem free operation are a good installation and good maintenance.

Few rules to follow with an operator:

1) Never allow a child to walk or run under a moving door.
2) Never let any child play with the operator command
3) Always keep an eye on a moving door.
4) Each month, make sure the reverse mechanisms (mechanical or photo-electrical) function correctly.
5) Your garage door must always be efficient. Deactivate your operator and make sure the door is balancing correctly.

A well-balanced door weights about 7 to 8 pounds. If your door seems to weigh more than that, call a garage door professional to check it for you. Remember that you should always be able to lift your door with two fingers.

Follow these few rules and you will be happy with your door's operation.

"The consumers showed us that they wanted more choices, and even more, a high quality product...which would last a long time! Our window frames are guaranteed for 10 years against decoloration. It is easy to see the difference in product quality, when after 2 or 3 years your window frames are becoming yellow instead of staying white." These new windows have been developed by Novatech Inc. in Concord, Ontario, a large glass manufacturer for entrance doors in Canada.
