THREE PART SHORT FORM SPECIFICATIONS (CSI)

Part 1 - General

1.01

A.Supply and install manually operated sliding grilles manufactured by Amstel Manufacturing (Tel: 1-800-663-6206, (905) 850-7122,  Fax: 905-850-7336)

2.01   Model:

A.Vista as manufactured by Amstel Manufacturing

(Tel: 1-800-663-6206, (905) 850-7122,  Fax: 905-850-7336)

2.02   Curtain:

A.   Construct of 6" (152 mm) wide by 1/8" (3.2 mm) thick tempered glass (optional self-extinguishing Lexan) lites protected by co-extruded neoprene and P.V.C. gaskets.  Panels are to be framed by full height butt hinges on 7" (178 mm) centers.  The ``Vista" shall incorporate 4" (102 mm) high truss-like plates at the top and bottom of the closure.

2.02Curtain:

B.   Construct of 6" (152 mm) wide x 0.072" (1.83 mm) thick full height aluminum panels.  Panels are to be framed by full height butt hinges on 7" (178 mm) centers.  Panels are to be perforated by 0.25" (6 mm) by 1.25" (32 mm) oblong slots that are in evenly spaced columns and staggered rows.  The ``Air Vista" shall incorporate 4" (102 mm) high truss-like plates at the top and bottom of the closure.

2.02Curtain:

C.   Construct of 6" (152 mm) wide by 0.072" (1.83 mm) thick full height aluminum panels.  Panels are to be framed by full height butt hinges on 7" (178 mm) centers.

2.02Curtain:

D.   Construct panels of 6" (152 mm) wide x 3/4" 19 mm) high truss-like horizontal members spaced at 12" (305 mm) vertical intervals.  Panel centerline consists of  7/16" (11 mm) diameter tubing over full height, concealed 5/16" (8 mm) diameter rod.  Panels are framed on 7" (178 mm) centers.

2.02   Curtain:

E.   The ``Sentry" shall incorporate 2" (51 mm) high truss-like plates at the top and bottom of the closure.  Construct of  4" (102 mm) wide x 0.60" (1.5 mm) thick aluminum plates that slide over 5/16" (8 mm) rods on 3_" (89 mm) centers in an alternating pattern.  Plate height is indicated by model number (Sentry 33 - 3" plates, Sentry 1515 - 15" plates).

2.02   Curtain:

F.   The ``Sentry" shall incorporate 2" (51 mm) high truss-like plates at the top and bottom of the closure.  Construct of 4" (102 mm) wide by 0.60" (1.5 mm) thick aluminum plates that slide over 5/16" (8 mm) rods on 3_" (89 mm) centers.

2.01   Model:

G.Classic 126 as manufactured by Amstel Manufacturing

2.02Curtain:

G.   The ``Classic 126" shall incorporate 2" (51 mm) high truss-like plates at the top and bottom of the closure.  Construct of 5/16" diameter vertical rods on 3-1/2" (89 mm) centers linked by flat horizontal bars 1/8" (3 mm) by 5/8" (16 mm) by 7_" (197 mm).  Bars are vertically spaced every 12" (305 mm) with 7/16" (11mm) diameter sleeves over alternating rods.

2.03   Materials:

Aluminum is to be 6063 aluminum alloy with T-5 temper.

2.04   Locking:

Members are to be vertical stiles fabricated from rectangular tubing 1.3" (33 mm) x 2.4" (62 mm).  Members using floor bolts include dust free, stainless top floor sockets.

Lead and trailing end members are to be cylinder controlled lock stiles with self-adjusting, cold rolled steel floor bolts and top bolts through the top of the track into the support.

Intermediate locking members with cold rolled steel floor bolts are supplied for (up to) every 10'-0" (3048 mm) of curtain.

Bipart assemblies are supplied as required.  One lock member will retain ahookbolt deadlock activated by keyed or thumbturn cylinders.  A second intermediate locking member with a steel floor bolt shall include a full height channel to accept the hookbolt deadlock.

2.05   Track:

Overhead track is to be 1.3" (33 mm) wide x 1.8" (46 mm) high and is to accept 1-1/8" (29 mm) diameter roller trolleys.  Rollers are to bear on 0.27" (7 mm) thick aluminum surface within the track.  Track curves, where indicated, are to have 10" (254 mm) or 14" (356 mm) radii.

2.06   Finish:

Standard factory finishes are to be:  0.0004" (10 micron) clear anodizing or K1285 (white), K70632 (light bronze), K71232 (medium bronze) or K90421 (black) Duracron acrylic paint.

2.07   Weight and Stacking:

Grille weights are to be expressed in lbs./sq. ft. and kg/sq.m of clear opening:

Glass Vista - 2.5 lbs./sq. ft. (12.2 kg/sq.m), Air Vista and Lexan Vista - 2.2 lbs./sq. ft. (10.7 kg/sq.m), Sentry and Guardian - 1.5 lbs./sq. ft. (7.3 kg/sq.m), Classic 126 - 1.2 lbs./sq. ft. (5.9 kg/sq.m)

Minimum stacking shall be 1.05"/linear foot of opening plus 3.5" for each locking member or 87.5 mm/meter of opening plus 89 mm per locking member.

Grille support must be able to carry the weight of a fully stacked door at any point along its length.  Support is to carry the total weight / the total stacking.

 

Part 3 - Execution

3.01   Preparation and Examination:

Contractor shall make structural or other preparation of the opening to receive track and grille, provide finish or trim to the opening, construct finish or trim to the opening and construct storage pockets as necessary.  Site preparations are to be detailed by approved shop drawings.

Examine all conditions under which grilles are to be installed.  Notify contractor of unsatisfactory conditions.

Verify track layout and grille dimensions, especially the finished floor (or counter) to the underside of the support dimensions, by actual measurements.

3.02I   nstallation:

Install in accordance with the manufacturer's shop drawings and instructions.

3.03   Maintenance:

Grille curtain shall be cleaned regularly with a mild soap that is approved for use on aluminum.

Roller trolleys are to be lubricated at least every 4 months with WD-40 or equivalent.

3.04   Warranty:

The standard warranty shall cover the repair or replacement of defective components or assembly labour for a period of one year following the installation of grille.
